Not the first found footage movie, but it certainly helped launch the phenomenon. I first saw this at an advanced screening, and the crowd was really into it. Tense, scary, low-key. The theatre helped continue to fuel the fear fire by placing rock piles and branch clusters in the lobby and along the sidewalk outside for a couple of blocks. The film may not have held up, but I’ll always have the memories of the first time. However, the final shot is still haunting.
