Hellbound: Hellraiser II – Quickie Review: 31 Nights Of Horror (2018) – Day 11

hellbound-hellraiser-iiCenobites are people, too…

I hate that I’ve started to need more out of my horror film viewing experience. I used to be fine with a movie only having gratuitous violence and nothing else. Recently, I’ve been needing a little more substance. I think it’s because of the slow burn / less violent / well-written horror flicks that have come out lately such as It Follows, The Witch, A Quiet Place, The Conjuring, etc.

Enter Hellbound. It’s quite violent, but the story is very muddled. I would just like to state that while I need more of a story, I have not become a prude. I can still handle strong violence. Gimme a movie with both, it’s a brand new favourite. Apparently, this script was torn apart and put back together with pieces missing. It attempted to hint at Pinhead’s origin stories, but it fell short. Maybe I’m just down with the series itself. I loved Hellraiser when I was young, and again, I was disappointed with the story. Sorry, Clive Barker. I guess I’ll just stick with Candyman, Lord Of Illusions and Nightbreed.

Best Line: “105 years… and he still doesn’t know my name.”
