Hellbound: Hellraiser II – Quickie Review: 31 Nights Of Horror (2018) – Day 11

Cenobites are people, too… I hate that I’ve started to need more out of my horror film viewing experience. I used to be fine with a movie only having gratuitous violence and nothing else. Recently, I’ve been needing a little more substance. I think it’s because of the slow burn / less violent / well-written …

Fish Called Wanda, A – Quickie Review

A wonderfully offensive, crude and funny heist flick. A completely Oscar-worthy tour-de-force performance by Kevin Kline. As funny now as it was back then. Any scene shared with Kline and Palin are priceless. Cleese’s script is endlessly entertaining. A comedy classic.

Beetlejuice – Quickie Review

I’m under the belief that Michael Keaton won his Oscar for Birdman because he was overlooked for this movie. For the record, he was brilliant in Birdman as well. Michael is Beetlejuice. His performance is so gleefully over the top. The art direction is fantastic and magical as it is in nearly every Tim Burton film …

Killer Klowns From Outer Space – Quickie Review: 31 Nights Of Horror – Day 25 / Film #5

Total lunacy. Marvelously inspired art direction and prop design. Every aspect of clown and carnival culture has been imaginatively repurposed. There are some freaky-ass clowns in this film that can only be defeated by having their noses shot. John Vernon is a hoot as the skeptical policeman.

976-EVIL – Quickie Review: 31 Nights Of Horror – Day 24 / Film #4

Wow. This movie was terrible. I can’t believe it was directed by Robert Englund and co-written by a future Oscar winner. One-dimensional characters, and the only character with more than that is horribly performed. This movie made me sad.

Lady In White – Quickie Review: 31 Nights Of Horror – Day 18 / Film #1

During a school prank, a young boy is visited by the ghost of a murdered girl which leads to continual hauntings and the boy’s life being in danger from the girl’s killer. A nice little ghost story. Some suspense, but it never really succeeds at maintaining that tone since the script drops humour in here …

Dead Heat (1988) – Quickie Review

The dream team casting of Treat Williams and Joe Piscopo was finally realized for this horror-action-comedy. Filled to the brim with good ol’ clean ’80s fun, camp and violence. It doesn’t take itself too serious nor should it. Silliness abound.

Child’s Play – Quickie Review

It has been a couple of years since I’ve last seen the movie and I hadn’t seen it since its theatrical release. It holds up pretty well. The puppet special effects look as good as they did in 1988. It’s still creepy and surprisingly more violent than I remember. Me likey.
