Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse – Quickie Review

A trio of scouts are on a camp out when a zombies takeover their town and with most of the evacuated, it’s up to them to save who’s left. There are some pretty funny sequences in this film. It has very crude humour (dialog and makeup effects). I’d say it’s like Superbad with zombies, but …

Visit, The – Quickie Review

A couple of kids visit their grandparents whom they’ve never met. This is because of a falling out between the grandparents and the kids’ mother years before. Not quite a return to form for Shyamalan, but it suggests promise for the future. Genuinely creepy with strange occurrences and darkly humourous situations. The ending is simple, …

Crimson Peak – Quickie Review: 31 Nights Of Horror – Day 22 / Film #3

Atmospheric: Check. Stunning Art Direction: Check. Original and Creepy Ghost Design: Check. Great Movie: … if you’re looking for a check, keep waiting. We Are Still Here – Quickie Review: 31 Nights Of Horror – Day 16 / Film #3

A grieving couple move to the countryside following the death of their son and soon find out that their new house and the town is full of secrets. Maggie – Quickie Review: 31 Nights Of Horror – Day 15 / Film #3

A very different spin on the zombie genre. It’s more of a family struggle drama than anything else. The horror is subtle and more psychological. Schwarzenegger gives a touching performance as the supportive father of an infected daughter. The score is beautifully emotional and haunting. This is a special movie.

Nightmare, The – Quickie Review: 31 Nights Of Horror – Day 7 / Film #3

An okay documentary about various people suffering from sleep paralysis and end up envisioning that they are being visited by shadowy figures. Interesting subject matter told through interviews and reenactments. The thought of the reality is much scarier than the film’s execution. Hoped for better.

What We Do In The Shadows – Quickie Reviews

Clever mockumentary about aged vampires sharing a flat in New Zealand while trying to live day to day in today’s world. Effortlessly charming and brutally funny movie sprinkled with comically over the top bloodshed. Very entertaining.
