Standard alien home invasion movie. A couple of unique touches, but nothing to make the movie to leave an impression. J.K. Simmons has a meaty supporting role, and he’s dynamite as usual.
An okay documentary about various people suffering from sleep paralysis and end up envisioning that they are being visited by shadowy figures. Interesting subject matter told through interviews and reenactments. The thought of the reality is much scarier than the film’s execution. Hoped for better.
An opera of ooze is the best way to describe this movie. Tainted alcohol makes its way thru the homeless community which causes people whom consume it to melt and/or explode in a vast array of colours. Set in a small mining town where Valentine’s dances have been outlawed for 20 years and everyone plays a harmonica. One of the many holiday-themed slasher flicks that were churned out in the early ’80s. Decent kills are bogged down by annoying characters. Passable as a cult favourite, but far from a classic.
Corny ’80s zombie horror comedy. It’s entertaining and the gore is above average, but it’s a little hard to watch after seeing all of The Walking Dead. It is really hard to get passed the zombies’ ability to talk, converse, make logical decisions, have memories and remorse. Probably would have enjoyed it more 30 years ago.
Early and modest entry in the Guillermo del Toro cannon. It’s a unique twist on the vampire genre. Considering what kind of movies GDT makes now, this is very low-key, but some decent practical makeup effects. I didn’t grab me as much as I would have hoped; but it’s still worth a look.
