Scream – Quickie Review

Upon hearing the news of Mr. Craven, I rewatched this having not seen it for many years. I did it with a bit of trepidation caused by the multitude of meta movies that have come out since its initial release. I found in the past that too many copies can lessen the original. I’m happy …

Cabin Fever – Quickie Review

Darkly humourous, visually disgusting, perfect entertainment for warped minds like mine. Definitely not for everyone. I remember a few people getting up and leaving during the screening. Paul – Quickie Review

A marvelously inspired fanboy sci-comedy written by and starring two fanboys. You don’t have to be a sci-fi fan to enjoy this movie, but it helps. It helps a lot. Saw – Quickie Review

The first of the series is still the best. Extreme gory, very original, creative deaths and a jaw dropping twist ending. It’s enjoyable and continues to be creepy.

Hostel – Quickie Review

One of the first mainstream movies to be deemed, torture porn. It’s well made movie, very creepy and very violent. Not for anyone with a weak stomach. It’s very graphic and not surprisingly, full of dark humour. It’s among the first of its kind, and it remains one of the best.

Canal, The – Quickie Review

Terrific, little British horror that features some solid gore and some genuine jump scares. Creepy tone throughout; the ending is jaw-dropping.

Pumpkinhead – Quickie Review

Directorial debut for the late special effects master, Stan Winston. Creepy tone throughout, solid gore and unsurprisingly, great creature effects and design. Lance Henrikson is Lance Henrikson as always and that’s just how we like it.

Hellraiser – Quickie Review

I recently saw this for the first since I was a kid. In my memory, it was one of the most violent and one of the scariest movies I had seen. I guess I’ve been fairly desensitized because that’s no longer the case. It’s still a good movie, it’s just not the one I remember.
