Creepshow – Quickie Review

One of the first horror I saw as a kid, and it’s still one of my favourites. It’s still as gloriously gory as ever, it still manages to give me the willies in some places and I don’t get creeped out that easily. The special effects have maintained their impact and I actually get and …

Camel Spiders – Quickie Review: 31 Nights Of Horror – Day 11 / Film #3

I didn’t know exactly what I was getting to when I starting to watch this. That’s not true, I knew exactly what to expect and I got it in spades. The growth and reproduction rate of the spiders is a miracle of science. This is a marvel of CGI and blue screen effects. My brain …

Cronos – Quickie Review: 31 Nights Of Horror – Day 2 / Film #1

Early and modest entry in the Guillermo del Toro cannon. It’s a unique twist on the vampire genre. Considering what kind of movies GDT makes now, this is very low-key, but some decent practical makeup effects. I didn’t grab me as much as I would have hoped; but it’s still worth a look.

Collector, The – Quickie Review

Fantastic and often cringe-inducing gore. Inventive death sequences. One of the better horror films, and horror villains to come around in a long while. A must-see for slasher fans. A real treat.

Cannibal Holocaust – Quickie Review

Controversial, once and still banned Italian horror film about a hidden tribe of cannibals and a documentary crew filming the encounter. Shockingly graphic violence at the time, and it perhaps is still perceived that way today. However, after years of being desensitized, I wasn’t bothered by the violence as much as I should have been. …

Creepshow 2 – Quickie Review

A mediocre follow-up to the 1982 horror classic. There’s a couple of decent moments, but all in all, it vastly pales in comparison to the original. The Raft segment is probably the only real highlight.

Cabin In The Woods, The – Quickie Review

Throw every horror cliché, scenario, and villain into a blender add some dark humour, an abundance of gore, a character who is aware of the clichés and a clever (almost too clever) script that flips everything around and you get one of the best, most fun and most satisfying horror movies ever. That was a …

Cabin Fever – Quickie Review

Darkly humourous, visually disgusting, perfect entertainment for warped minds like mine. Definitely not for everyone. I remember a few people getting up and leaving during the screening. More than a few cringe-inducing scenes as well as one of the strangest moments you’ll ever see in a movie. Pancakes!!!

Critters – Quickie Review

It’s been a while since I’ve seen it, but I remember it being campy fun with a good amount of gore. A nice throwback to the creature features of the ’50s. Rewatch mandatory.
