Thoroughly disappointing prequel to the vastly superior, The Conjuring. An attempted jump scare here, a contrived scare there. Eerie music here, manic screams there. It tries really hard to be something, but it just falls flat.
A very different spin on the zombie genre. It’s more of a family struggle drama than anything else. The horror is subtle and more psychological. Schwarzenegger gives a touching performance as the supportive father of an infected daughter. The score is beautifully emotional and haunting. This is a special movie.
