Creep (2014) – Quickie Review

A brilliant, quiet, little horror flick. Very understated, very restrained. Mark Duplass is pitch perfect as the “Creep”. Many of strong jump scares and clever twists. This is what every found footage movie should strive to be. Big isn’t always better. Catch it on Netflix.

In The Mouth Of Madness – Quickie Review

Easily one of my favourite horror films. I once recommended this movie to an employee who was looking for a scary movie and the next day she got mad at me because she “didn’t want something that scary.” One of John Carpenter’s best.

Kentucky Fried Movie, The – Quickie Review

Nightmare On Elm Street, A (1984) – Quickie Review

One of the slasher greats and to this day, still one of the only films to continually creep me out. Johnny Depp’s death scared to shit out of me when I was a kid. I’d never before seen that much blood at one time. Robert Englund is masterful.

In The Line Of Fire – Quickie Review

Exciting, fast-paced action-thriller from director Wolfgang Peterson. One of Eastwood’s best films and performances.  However, Malkovich steals the movie. Great ensemble overall.

American Werewolf In London, An – Quickie Review

Classic werewolf film. Transformation scenes and makeup effects are still among the best. Darkly funny, great performances all around. Happy retirement to you, Rick Baker.

Collateral – Quickie Review

Beautifully filmed Michael Mann movie. L.A. should definitely get character billing. Moody, taut, nicely paced. Cruise makes a great baddie.

Guest, The – Quickie Review

The first half is your A-typical action flick with character introductions. The second half turns on a dime and becomes reminiscent of an ’80s action film. Over the action, gratuitous violence. Great stuff, great dialogue for the genre.
