My feelings towards this film have diminished over the years. I once regarded it as one of the upper echelon action-comedies. Not so much any more. I used to think that Tom Arnold was a revelation; now he’s just an annoying sidekick. The action sequences mostly hold up. The bridge scene is still a high-light. …
Christian Bales stars in this futuristic action thriller set in a time where all forms of emotion has been deemed illegal. Plain and simple, this movie rocks. The action sequences are sublime and I’d stack up the gun and sword play choreography against anything in recent memory. Perfectly executed. Bale is top notch as usual.
Above average ’80s action thriller about a special effects expert who is hired by the FBI to fake the death of a mob boss. Steady action with plenty of twists and laughs along the way. The main complaint would be the F/X expert’s partner is an appalling actress. I wanted to slap her repeatedly. Added …
Based on the fake trailer with the same name which played before Grindhouse for the Canadian theatrical run. Over the top violence, creative death sequences (love the nooses with the crossbows), and thoroughly coated with cheese. Rutger Hauer is perfectly cast. Terrific fun.
The action is amped up for the third entry in the successful Bourne series. In my opinion, it’s the best of the series. Incredible chase sequences and fight choreography. I really enjoyed how it’s tied in with the previous film. David Strathairn is a very welcomed addition to the cast, but he’d be an exceptional addition …
One of my all time favourite films. Perfectly cast with a dream ensemble. Some of the best dialog ever put to celluloid. The violence is brutal and breathtaking. One phenomenal scene after another, pure movie magic. Love it.
Easily, one of the best pure action movies I’ve seen in a long time and one of the best movies of 2015. The practical stunt work and choreography is stellar and their blend with the CGI is seamless. Highly enjoyable, multiple rewatches to come.
This is an over the top, campy, action gore fest and it’s awesome. It features some of the most original and inventive gun play choreography you’ll ever see. Super fun. Paul Giamatti devours each scene with a wonderfully amped up performance. Clive Owen is perfectly stoic as the hero who always eats his vegetables and makes …
Easily in my Top 5 action films of all time. This was early in Michael Bay’s career and this is where he peaked. Great action sequences, strong ensemble and actually a very believable villain with fairly realistic motivations. A classic Simpson/Bruckheimer production. I saw this bitch 5 times at the theatre.
