House Of Wax (1953) – Quickie Review: 31 Nights Of Horror – Day 12 / Film #1

Classic Vincent Price tale of macabre. Obviously, it’s head and shoulders above the remake. I assume the premise would have to horrifying at the time. While the scares aren’t there, the charm is, as well as wonderfully poetic script. Price is impeccable. The only thing the remake holds over the original is that we get …

Quote of the Day – October 12, 2015

“Hey, you want me to beat your dick off?” “You want to beat my dick off?” “I’ll beat your dick off with both hands, let’s go!”

Camel Spiders – Quickie Review: 31 Nights Of Horror – Day 11 / Film #3

I didn’t know exactly what I was getting to when I starting to watch this. That’s not true, I knew exactly what to expect and I got it in spades. The growth and reproduction rate of the spiders is a miracle of science. This is a marvel of CGI and blue screen effects. My brain …

Black Sheep (2006) – Quickie Review: 31 Nights Of Horror – Day 11 / Film #2

Genetically altered sheep run amuck on a New Zealand farm and start eating the humans while the unlucky attack survivors turn into some kind of weresheep. Over the top gore effects provided by Peter Jackson’s WETA Workshop. Just plain silly fun, but not as funny as I would have hoped.

Nekromantik – Quickie Review: 31 Nights Of Horror – Day 11 / Film #1

Showing this video is about the most PC I can get when describing this movie. While it doesn’t sum up the whole film, it’s a fair comparison to one scene in particular. Just replace the brownie with a decomposing corpse. Brownie Husband – Saturday Night Live by konbini

Host, The (2006) – Quickie Review

An American military pathologist dumps hazardous fluid into Korean waterways and after a period of time, a deadly sea monster is created. A super fun creature feature from South Korean. Seamless special effects high-light this film and the humour has as much bite as the creature. One of the best of its genre.

Rite, The – Quickie Review: 31 Nights Of Horror – Day 10 / Film #5

An American seminary student who is questioning his faith is sent to Italy to learn of exorcism from a priest experienced in the subject. The standard is set pretty high for movies about exorcisms, but this one is far better than other wannabes. It helps that it has a story we haven’t seen before. Hopkins …

In Fear – Quickie Review: 31 Nights Of Horror – Day 10 / Film #4

A young couple gets lost in a maze of back roads while trying to get to a music festival. This movie expertly builds tension very slowly. Since most of the primary events take place in a car, it gets very claustrophobic. The last 30-45 minutes are extremely intense. A riveting firecracker of a film.
